England will delay naming their team to confront Tonga in Saturday’s Autumn Nations Series until 90 minutes before the 15:15 GMT kick-off as they wait to see if captain Owen Farrell can play.
Farrell tested positive for the virus on Friday and is isolating awaiting results of a further test.
It follows a member of the backroom team testing positive on Thursday.
The whole squad has experienced an additional round of PCR testing as a precautionary measure.
Farrell is due to start at fly-half, with Marcus Smith on the bench after he missed several training sessions this week with a minor leg injury.
Smith may now be called in to start and, with George Ford left out of the autumn squad, substitute George Furbank could offer back-up at 10.
