Bed Bugs and Traveling – How to Protect Your Home
One of the possible problems you can bring home after a travel is bugs. Many people will ask how is that possible. Well generally you can’t get them while travelling, but when you are sleeping at a hotel, it is possible for them to get in to your luggage. Knowing this we have decided to discuss how you can prevent bringing bugs home after a travel in the next few paragraphs. It is always good to prevent these bugs so let’s see what we can do about it.
The first thing you have to do when you get in your hotel room is to take your luggage to the bathroom or leave it in your car if possible. The fact is that many people make the mistake and unpack without checking the room first or putting the luggage on the bed and then make the inspection. Bugs may get into your things. When you get into the room check if the hygiene is at proper levels. After that, make a visual check for bed bug traces around beds and sofas and other furniture in the room. If you notice a single trace of bed bugs, then ask for another room. And inspect that room in addition. It is good to know that bugs are present in well-known hotels and not just in cheap motels.
After you have inspected the room you are free to unpack. However, don’t place your things on the bed or sofa. Use a table instead. Always carry your things in suitcases, avoid using bags made of fiber. You can also use bags, which can be locked firmly either with a zipper or with a lock system. If you are using bags, make sure they can be washed in hot water since it kills bugs effectively.
If you haven’t had problems with bugs, and you are on your way home, your job about bed bug prevention is not over. You have to check your things before you bring them in because the bed bugs are already in your suitcases. This will help you avoid bed bug infestation of your home, and possible bug bites. Just wash all your things in hot water, and if there were any bugs you can be sure they are deleted by it.
Another useful tip is to search the internet and see if anyone has had a problem with bed bugs in the hotel you are planning to stay in. After you do that all we can say is – have a nice trip!
