Bedbugs are small parasite insects that suck the blood of warm-blooded animals, chiefly humans. They are usually active at night and are capable of feeding themselves from unsuspecting victims. Often, they get close to their hosts by living in beds, couches, mattresses, carpets, behind wallpapers, and in wooden furniture. Bedbugs are nocturnal and typically bite people while they are asleep. Bedbugs bite their hosts by using their sharp beak to pierce the skin and inject their saliva to suck blood. Frequently, bedbug bites are mistaken for shared household insects’ bite since the bites can look almost identical to those caused by other parasitic blood feeding insects such as mosquitoes, fleas, ants and lice.

Other possible signs of bedbugs are the tiny blood spots on bedding materials from bed bug waste. Bedbugs leave behind a great deal of waste where they live. Once a bedbug is found at home, think of the possibility that the bite in the skin might be because of a bedbug.
Prevention to getting bed bug bites must always be implemented to avoid bed bug bites. Some of the things that can be done to stop bedbug from spreading at home include regular inspection of all possible hiding places of bedbugs, repairing and sealing any fractures in furniture and walls, screening the windows, removing excess clutter and clothing, cleaning mattresses, bed frames, carpets and upholstered furniture regularly, and using bed bug spray to avoid having them spread.
